6.5. In accordance with the application of the strategy for safety to the disposal facility and its components, the safety case should address specifically how, individually and in combination, the components of the disposal system will ensure that all safety requirements will be met. In general, the safety case should include a description of the safety functions assigned to each component of the disposal system (both in operation and in the period after closure) and should provide an assessment of the ability of these components (including natural barriers) to fulfil their given role. The safety case should also address the feasibility of construction. In all these respects, statements about the performance of the disposal system should be justified and uncertainties remaining at the particular step of the project should be identified.
