The protection of non-human species has been under discussion for several years (e.g. Ref. [24]). However, an international consensus on approaches and criteria for addressing this issue is still evolving. Therefore, this issue is not considered further in this Safety Guide.

5.27. 방사성 폐기물 처분의 기본 원칙은 미래의 개인과 집단에 대해 그들에게 중요한 방호 행위를 취할 어떠한 필요가 없이 적절하게 보호하기 위한 것이다. IAEA Fundamental Safety Principle (2006). 비 인간종의 방호는 수년 동안 논의되어 오고 있다 (예. 참고문헌 [ICRP Publication 103 (2006)]). 하지만, 이 문제를 해결하기 위한 접근방법 및 기준에 대한 국제적인 합의는 여전히 전개되고 있다. 따라서 이 문제는 본 안전 지침에서 추가로 고려하지 않는다.
