6.53. 운영기간 동안 작업자 피폭과 방사성물질의 누출(주로 공기 중으로)에 대한 모니터링이 피폭을 합리적으로 달성 가능한 낮은 수준을 유지하고, 해당 누출을 최소화하도록 절차의 변경을 포함한 설계의 변경에 활용되어야 한다.
