6.34. 강건한 안전성 평가와 Safety Case에 대한 확신을 유지하기 위해, 처분시설 설계 절차는 구성변경제어(configuration change control)를 제공하는 관리 시스템 내에서 수행되어야 한다. 운영 중 안전3 및 폐쇄 후의 안전을 위한 공학적방벽의 설계 특성은 방벽의 안전 중요도에 따라 차등적으로 설계요건이 적용되도록 분류되어야 한다.
3) 운영에 대한 공학적방벽은 종종 “안전에 중요한 기기, 구조물 및 계통(SSC)”로 간주된다.
