6.31. The geological disposal facility should be designed so that fissile material, when present, will remain in a subcritical configuration during the operational period. Assessment of the possible evolutions of the disposal system in the postclosure period should also address the criticality issue and should provide confidence that a subcritical condition will be maintained.

6.31. 심층처분시설은 핵분열성 물질이 존재할 경우, 운영 기간 동안 미임계 상태(subcritical configuration)로 유지될 수 있도록 설계되어야 한다. 또한, 폐쇄 후 기간에 처분시스템의 가능한 진화를 평가함에 있어 핵임계에 대한 이슈를 다루어야 하며, 미임계 상태가 유지될 것이라는 확신을 제공하여야 한다.
