2.20. The assessment of conventional environmental impacts such as may occur in the construction and operational periods of a disposal facility, for example, impacts relating to traffic, noise, visual amenity, disturbance of natural habitats, restrictions on land use and social and economic factors, is outside the scope of this Safety Requirements publication. This Safety Requirements publication covers the protection of the environment against radiological hazards associated with the radioactive material in the disposal facility6. The non-radiological toxic hazard also has to be assessed where this is significant, as discussed in the following paragraphs.

[2.20] 인간 및 환경 방호
2.20. 일반적인 환경영향평가는 처분시설의 시공 및 운영 단계에서 실시된다. 교통, 소음, 시각적 쾌적성(visual amenity), 자연서식지의 교란, 토지 사용의 제한 및 사회적·경제적 요소 등을 평가 대상으로 하는 환경영향평가는 본 간행물의 범위를 벗어난다. 본 간행물은 처분시설의 방사성물질로 인한 방사능 위험으로부터 자연을 방호하는 내용을6 다룬다. 다음과 같이 비방사선적 독성 위해(toxic hazard)가 심각한 경우에는 평가받아야 한다.
6) 방사성폐기물의 처분에 대한 Safety Case와 안전성 평가에 대한 안전지침(A Safety Guide on the Safety Case and Safety Assessment for Disposal of Radioactive Waste)은 준비 중이다.
